“Venomous Sea Creatures: The Deadliest Animals in the Ocean" presented by
Karen Van Hoesen, MD.
Dr. Van Hoesen is an Emergency Medicine physician at UC San Diego who specializes in undersea and hyperbaric medicine. She has been a diving instructor for more than 30 years. She loves opening the underwater world to the public—including the dangers of venomous sea creatures. Join us as she will discuss some of the
commonly encountered hazardous marine animals found in the ocean, types
of injuries they inflict and how to manage them.
Meetings are held at the Stephen Birch Aquarium at Scripps, located at 2300 Expedition Way, La Jolla, CA 92037 and begin at 7pm. Everyone is welcome, and if you arrive at 6:30, you’ll have a half hour to explore the aquarium before the presentation begins. Admission is free, and there is plenty of free parking.
